Open positions

Currently, the ARIES research center has the following funded positions:

One tenured assistant / associate professor position in the field of Digital Electronics / Computer Architecture.

The Computer Engineering department of Nebrija University, together with the ARIES Research Center (http://www.nebrija.es/aries), offers one tenured assistant / associate professor position in the field of Digital Electronics / Computer Architecture. The position will start with an initial non-tenured year, in which the candidate will have to meet some research goals. After the first year, the candidate’s performance will be assessed by a committee, and if the result is positive, a tenured assistant / associate professor position will be offered. The category of assistant or associate will be determined based on the background and performance of the candidate.

About teaching: The candidate will be responsible of teaching an average of 6 hours per week. Non Spanish speaking candidates will be allowed to teach in English for the first two years. After that period, the candidate should have acquired a sufficient level of Spanish to teach in this language (roughly equivalent to a B2 level).

About research: The candidate will join the ARIES Research Center, where he/she will be expected to contribute to the current research lines and projects. In this way, the main work of the center is on Digital Electronics applied to Space applications, with a focus on reliability (fault tolerant microprocessors, ECC for memories, reliable digital components, etc.). The ability of the candidate to integrate in these lines and his/her average number of publications per year will be the main selection criteria.

All candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in a related area, and should prove sound knowledge and expertise in Digital Design, Computer Architecture, HDL (VHDL or Verilog) and/or FPGAs. Candidates should send updated CV (including detailed research achievements) plus research and teaching statements. The selection criteria will be as follows: i) Average number of publications per year, ii) suitability of the candidate’s research to the ARIES Research Center activity lines and projects, and iii) teaching experience. One funded Ph.D. student position in the field of Reliability of Digital Circuits for Space Applications.

The main goal of the project is to design and implement a fault tolerant processor for space applications. The purpose is to integrate this processor in a future CubeSat developed at INTA (www.inta.es). The study of reliability in microprocessors, memories and auxiliary components will be part of the tasks associated to this goal.

The offered position is for three years (plus a possible fourth year). All candidates should prove sound knowledge and/or expertise in Digital Design and/or Computer Architecture and HDL design.
